August 21st was the big day when all five of our Clubs opened their doors for members afterschool! The new Tri-City Boys and Girls Club opened for the first time. This 21st Century Community Learning Center is being headed by an all-new staff including Unit Director Billie Rowe.
Both the members and staff at the Tri-City Club have been enjoying getting to know each other and some fun activities including Lego challenges and outside play!
Meanwhile, the Cawood Ledford Boys & Girls Club has seen over 60 members each afternoon, smashing previous attendance records! Both veteran members and new members are enjoying all the benefits of afternoons at the Club including delicious meals, fun activities, and homework help!
The Black Mountain Boys & Girls Club and the Union College Boys & Girls Club both have new Unit Directors. Our Black Mountain Club is now lead by Mady Haynes-Knuckles, who formally was a Youth Development Professional at the Union College Club.
Mady has spearheaded the creation of lots of Clubs at the Club including the STEM Club, the Art Club, LEGO Club, and Karaoke Club! The members at Black Mountain have also participated in Positive Action and Money Matters lessons already!
The Union College Club is now led by Erica Pearson, who is also a veteran of our organization. Erica has been in charge of Marketing and Communications for almost two years before getting the opportunity to work directly with our members as the Unit Director of the Union College Boys & Girls Club.
Erica is loving learning all about the members at the Union College Club and has been working to establish a new routine with the members there. Members have been enjoying Club activities like board games, iPads, Legos, marble runs, and books. They even celebrated all the August birthdays with cake, balloons, and ping pong!
Our Harlan Teen Club is continuing to provide high quality, education-focused afterschool activities to the students of Harlan Independent. The Green Dragons have been having fun while they gear up for an amazing, successful year!
All our Clubs are excited for all the fun, learning, and growth on the horizon this school year!
